The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson is a humorous and heartwarming children’s novel about an unexpected twist in a small town’s annual Christmas pageant.
The story follows the Herdman siblings—Ralph, Imogene, Leroy, Claude, Ollie, and Gladys—who are known as the worst kids in town. They lie, steal, bully others, and have never heard the Christmas story before. When they unexpectedly take over all the main roles in the town’s church Christmas play, chaos ensues. The townspeople are horrified, expecting disaster. However, as the Herdmans learn about the Nativity story for the first time, their raw and sincere reactions make everyone see the Christmas story in a new light.
Despite their rough behavior, the Herdmans bring an unpolished but deeply moving authenticity to the pageant, leaving the audience with a fresh appreciation for the holiday’s meaning. The book is both funny and touching, showing how unexpected people can bring new perspective and warmth to cherished traditions.

The Nerd is a two-act comedy play written by Larry Shue. The story revolves around Willum Cubbert, a young architect living in Terre Haute, Indiana, whose life is disrupted when Rick Steadman, a man who once saved his life in Vietnam, unexpectedly visits and overstays his welcome.
Willum, feeling indebted to Rick, invites him to stay at his apartment, only to discover that Rick is an obnoxious, socially clueless, and eccentric houseguest. His bizarre behavior quickly wears on Willum and his friends—Tansy McGinnis, Willum’s love interest, and Axel Hammond, a sarcastic theater critic. As Rick’s antics grow more unbearable, the group devises a scheme to drive him away.
The play is filled with slapstick humor, misunderstandings, and a surprising twist at the end that changes Willum’s perspective on Rick and his own life. With its fast-paced comedy and eccentric characters, The Nerd is a lighthearted and entertaining play.

The Play That Goes Wrong is a comedy play written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields of the Mischief Theatre Company. It is a farcical, meta-theatrical production that revolves around the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, an amateur theater group attempting to stage a 1920s murder mystery titled The Murder at Haversham Manor. However, as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does—props malfunction, actors forget lines, set pieces collapse, and mistaken identities cause chaos.
The play follows the increasingly disastrous performance as the cast struggles to keep the production on track despite the mounting catastrophes. Actors are knocked unconscious, cues are missed, and the set literally falls apart. Yet, through sheer determination (or obliviousness), they persist to the end, leading to a hilariously disastrous yet triumphant conclusion.
The humor relies on physical comedy, slapstick, and the actors’ deadpan commitment to their failing performance, making The Play That Goes Wrong a widely acclaimed hit on the West End, Broadway, and beyond.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella is a musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale, originally written for television in 1957. The story follows Cinderella, a kind and gentle young woman who is mistreated by her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, she is magically transformed for one night to attend the royal ball, where she captivates Prince Charming. As the clock strikes midnight, she flees, leaving behind a glass slipper. The prince searches the kingdom to find the mysterious girl, and when the slipper fits Cinderella, they are reunited and live happily ever after.
The musical has been adapted multiple times for television and stage, with notable productions in 1965, 1997, and a 2013 Broadway version that added new characters and modernized themes while maintaining the original score.
